This event was hosted by the Lustgarten Foundation, the largest private funder of pancreatic cancer research in the world. As a volunteer, my job was to help out all of the participants, which included setting up the food and drink tables for them, marking out the path, and assisting any walkers who needed direction or anything else. The community collectively raised over $117,000 at this event!

According to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, pancreatic cancer is the "third leading cause of cancer death in the United States". Helping with this cause was an extremely fulfilling opportunity because pancreatic cancer is something that poses a risk to anyone. This disease has no early warning signs and currently, there is no way to screen for it, so this research is much needed.
